Ares: Bringer of War (Olympians Series) by George O’Connor -ADVISABLE

O’Connor, George Ares: Bringer of War (Olympians Series) 73 pgs. First Second, 2015. $10.00 Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G Violence: PG GRAPHIC NOVEL
All of the god are interested in the Trojan War, many with their own demi-god children in the battle, some with pawns and plots they are invested in. Ares, the god of war, is different than his sister, Athena. She is organized and strategic, while he is the chaos and violence. Natuarally Ares has taken a keen interest in the epic battle. Things come to a head when Zeus has had enough of the in-fighting and demands the god of Olympus end their involvement. Will they obey?

I really enjoy this series! The author somehow manages to sort out the cacophony of Greek gods, their children, and their exploits into some modicum of sense. The artwork is stunning: both interesting and beautiful to look at, all while conveying intense action. I think this series can work for a high school library and help this age group to gain interest in Greek mythology.
