Everybody Sleeps (But Not Fred) by Josh Schneider- ESSENTIAL

Schneider, Josh. Everybody Sleeps (But not Fred), PICTURE BOOK. Clarion Books, 2015. $16.99. Content: G.

As the title tells us, everybody sleeps. Except Fred. He’s got a long list of things that he needs to do. So, even though there are whales and jellyfish sleeping in the ocean and pigs and sheep sleeping in the barn, Fred is busy. Busy blowing horns, breaking the world shouting record, hunting the legendary Sasquatch, and doing so much more. Eventually though, everyone gets tired enough to go to sleep… Right?

The illustrations in this book are fantastic! They pair so perfectly with the text and all of Fred’s adventures (as well as the animals’) are depicted so vividly. Such a fun, different read. I think everyone can relate to feeling like they have too much to do (or too much they want to do) to go to sleep.
