Set in Port Angeles, California, Madison Hays is practicing day and night to try and make the Titan Cheerleading Team. As such, she’s been kind of ignoring/getting ignored by her boyfriend, Bevan. A new boy, Evan, has also been trying to get her attention and get her to go out with him. With school and tryouts going on, Maddy forgets about the school dance until it’s almost time and realizes that Bevan asked her out yet. Between her worries about her friends not supporting her decision to tryout, the mean girls at school being meaner than ever, and problems with her boyfriend, Maddy has a lot on her plate. Will she be able to juggle it all or will her life come crashing down around her? Will she make the Cheerleading Squad? Will her and Bevan keep dating or will Evan win the key to her heart?

Interspersed throughout the book are Wimpy Kid-like drawings and antics that are well-done. Although the main character is likable and developed enough, the other characters were disappointingly under-developed. Although the plot was shallow at best, fans of Dork Diaries will love it. EL.
