Atlantia by Ally Condie - ADVISABLE

Condie, Ally Atlantia, 298 p. Dutton (Penguin), 2014.  $19.
Content: G.

The people of Atlantia have chosen to separate themselves from the world Above, but each child of Atlantia gets to choose to stay or to go Above – they only have one chance and the decision is permanent.  Rio has dreamed of Above her entire life, even though it means leaving her twin sister Below.  After their mother dies, however, Rio promises Bay she will stay Below with her.  On that choosing day, however,  her sister chooses Above, stranding Rio Below, alone.  Rio is determined to reunite with her sister and find her away to the surface, even if trying to escape always has ended in death.

Condie has crafted a novel leaps above her debut trilogy.  I don’t know if this is a series or not – I enjoyed it as a whole book, standing alone.
