Timmy Failure: Mistakes were Made by Stephan Pastis - - ESSENTIAL

Pastis, Stephan Timmy Failure: Mistakes were Made, 294 pgs. Candlewick Press, 2013. $14.99

Content: G.

Timmy Failure is not a very good Detective, but he thinks he is. Along with his faithful business partner, a polar bear named Total, Timmy has formed Total Failure Inc. where his friends can hire him solve cases like:  “Who stole the candy?” or  “Who T.P’d my yard?”

Pastis, author and illustrator, has a great sense of humor without being gross or inappropriate.  I found myself laughing aloud. Although Timmy never sees the obvious, the readers will which makes this, the first in a series, an essential pick for the elementary library, and an advisable pick for Middle School.  It’s another title for the kids who like Captain Underpants and the Wimpy Kid series.
