H.I.V.E. Aftershock by Mark Walden - ADVISABLE

Walden, Mark H.I.V.E. Aftershock, 278 p. Simon & Schuster, 2014.  Language: PG (10 swears, 0 ‘f’); Violence: PG; Mature Content: G.

Its time for the denizens of HIVE to go on the Hunt – an annual exercise where the students try to keep from being caught by Raven.  Otto and his friends probably have the best chance.  Instead, someone has betrayed HIVE, killed students and are out to murder them all.  While GLOVE’s leadership may have been eviscerated, someone is ready to fill the void and pit the rest of the world’s villains against Nero and HIVE.

While there is a whole lot of action and a tiny bit of backstory, this book in the series offers nothing more.  I don’t know why Walden keeps treating Otto and his friends as if they are villains – they never do anything that any good teen spy wouldn’t do in the name of “right”.  I really hope that the next book wraps up the series, because I think it is time to move on.  By the time students get to this point, they will still enjoy them.
