Alliance by Mark Frost - ESSENTIAL

Frost, Mark  Alliance (The Paladin Prophecy, #2), 338 pgs.  Random House, 2014.  $17.99

Language: PG-13 (28 swears); Mature Content: PG; Violence: PG-13.

Will West is trying to get over the loss of his parents and the horrible realization that there are demons from the Never Was that are trying to cross over into his world.  He has kept up his physical regiment and learned about his strong powers, but he is having a hard time with the fact that Brooke is ignoring him, even though they expressed their close feelings in the previous book.  Will decides that he wants to exact revenge on Hobbs, an evil man that Will blames for taking his parents, so he starts to investigate the past and learns what he can about Hobbs.  His best friends: Elise, Ajay, Nick and Brooke come along for the ride.

I love this series!  All of the characters are entertaining and you can’t help but be drawn into their adventures.  This second book had a lot more research and reconnaissance than the first, which at time slowed down the action, but Will and all of the main characters are so quirky and funny that even when there isn’t action there is entertainment.  The ending threw in some great twists and I cannot wait to get my hands on the third book.  Side note: I listened to this on audiobook and the reader, Nick Chamian, was fabulous.
