Fallout by S.A. Bodeen - ESSENTIAL

Bodeen, S.A. Fallout, 326 p. Feiwel and Friends, 2013.  Mature Content: G; Violence: G; Language: PG (20 swears, 0 ‘f’).

For six years Eli lived in an underground bunker with his family - most of his family, his twin brother was left behind.  Now his father is dead and Eli and the rest of the survivors are trying to put their lives back together.  The rest being Eli’s twin (after the reunion), his mother, his two sisters - and the younger ones, who were born in the bunker.  But learning to live again is not easy for any one int he family.  Eli and Lexie hate their father because they know exactly how evil he really was.  Eddy, the twin, however only knows Dad from six years ago.  Everything is a mess.  There may not be any way to bring the family back together.

Bodeen does a great job of not just making a derivative sequel.  Eli and his family have really tough questions to deal, emotions are volatile things.  Well done.
