Iris and Walter by Elissa Haden Guest-OPTIONAL

Guest, Elissa Haden, Iris and Walter. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2012. EARLY READER.

When Iris and her family moved from their house in the city, Iris was sad. She missed everything about her old house, but especially the children she knew. Her family’s house in the county is large and doesn’t seem to have any children nearby. Can Iris find a way to be happy at her new house. Will she be able to meet a new friend?

Although the illustrations are good and complement the text, the story leaves something to be desired, even for an easy reader. Readers learning to read who like friendship and moving stories, however, will still probably like this book. EL (K-3). OPTIONAL. Reviewer: Kira M, Youth Services Librarian, WHI Public Library.
