Snowmen at Work by Caralyn Buehner - ESSENTIAL

Buehner, Caralyn Snowmen at Work, 31 pgs. Dial Books for Young Readers, 2012. Language: G; Mature Content: G, Violence: G. PICTURE BOOK.

A child builds a snowman and wakes to a new snowfall.  The child ponders if the snowman had just shoveled his walks.  This thought progresses to other snowmen who are community helpers, such as a snowman mechanic or a snowman librarian. Thus, he concludes, “and I never knew that all around us snowmen have a lot of work to do”.

This adorable book teaches children about community helpers.  The illustrations by Mark Buehner, are bright and cheerful.  To add to the fun, each page has hidden pictures with a key on the underside of the book jacket.
