In this sequel
to Game of Triumphs, the Chancers are back and trying to figure out how to
navigate the game now that their actions have resulted in unforeseen
consequences. They had thought their final move was brave. It should have been
the game changer that gave them the prizes they sought. It has now become
quickly and painfully clear, however, that they must take control of this new
reality they have unwittingly created. If they are outmaneuvered, it could mean
the end of not only the game, but the end of everything.
This book does
a lovely job of continuing the story begun in the first installment. The main
characters become more clearly drawn as the reader is introduced to a more
detailed explanation of their pasts and motivations. The game that is at the
center of the story can be complex and hard to understand, but the ending ties
up the many loose ends and concludes the adventure in a way that will leave the
reader happy.
