Carter’s Christmas by Lisa Bullard - ADVISABLE

Bullard, Lisa  Carter’s Christmas  Illustrated by Katie Saunders  Millbrook Press, 2013.  $23.93  PICTURE BOOK  Content: G.

In this fun Christmas book, Carter is celebrating the holidays with his grandmother.  He is trying to make her an ornament for a surprise, but his grandma keeps interrupting him so they can go Christmas shopping at the mall, sit on Santa’s lap, and decorate the Christmas tree.  When Christmas Eve arrives, he still hasn’t finished her present, and together they make cookies, go to church to hear about Jesus and drive around to see Christmas lights.  Eventually he does finish her present and his grandmother is very pleased.

On each page layout, there is a little box with a 2-3 sentence description of the stories behind the traditions of Christmas.  These facts make the story more interesting and give the history of the holiday.  The illustrations are very cute, in much the style of Charlie and Lola. If you are looking for a Christmas book, this is a good addition.
