Ballerina Rosie by Sarah Ferguson - ADVISABLE

Ferguson, Sarah  Ballerina Rosie  Illustrated by Diane Goode  Simon and Schuster, 2012.  $16.99  PICTURE BOOK  Content: G.

Rosie is a little girl that likes to dance.  She dances with her stuffed animals and dances on the way to school and she likes to wear her dance tutu doing everything, including climbing trees.  Rosie’s mom decides that it is time for her to take dance lessons, but Rosie quickly learns that dance lessons are harder than just dancing around the house and she starts to wonder if she will ever be a real dancer.  When she receives a pair of red ballet shoes she goes to dance class and finally feels like she can do the steps that the teacher is teaching.

The illustrations in this book are simple and cute.  It is a great book about finding our confidence and working on our talents because talents don’t just happen on their own.  The character will appeal to most little girls who like pink and dancing.
