A Beautiful Evil by Kelly Keaton - OPTIONAL

Keaton, Kelly A Beautiful Evil, 287 p. Simon Pulse, 2012.  $17.  Language: R (80+ swears, 5 ‘f’); Violence: PG-13 (torture); Mature Content: G (rape is mentioned).  Ari has found a place for herself in New Orleans 2, but she is worlds away from making it her home.  Ari is the last remaining descendant of Medusa – destined to have a daughter by age 21 and then descend into madness.  Athena, yes, the goddess, has special plans for Ari, and that doesn’t just mean Athena wants to kill her – instead she wants to awaken Ari’s powers.  And in order to do so, Athena will hurt those Ari loves most, with special torture reserved for Sebastian.  As Ari tries to figure out Athena’s long game, she will need all of her friends behind her to escape Athena’s latest torture.

Keaton has a created a mature, compelling world for those older students who want deeper meaning to their supernatural.  The sexy cover will draw them in and hopefully they will linger.

HS – OPTIONAL. Cindy, Library Teacher.
