Hide and Seek by Katherin MacPhail-ESSENTIAL

MacPhail, Katherine, Hide and Seek. Stoke Books, 2012. Pgs. 67. Language: G, Violence: PG-13, Sexual Content: G

When the new girl, Destiny moves into town, Nicole and her friends decide to play a trick on her. Believed to be haunted by a teacher who died in a fire, this old ghost story will make the perfect trick or so Nichole thinks. When the big night come and the pranks begin, everyone starts disappearing. Could the school really be haunted? Why is everyone disappearing?

An extremely creepy, but fun story for reluctant readers. Written in the style of a Twilight Zone show, this book is suspenseful and riveting. The characters and plot do a good job of holding the reader’s interest. The text is uniquely designed for dyslexic readers and is easy to read. Readers who like horror, suspense, ghost stories, and being scared half to death will enjoy reading this book. MS, HS. ESSENTIAL. Reviewer: Kira M, Youth Services Librarian, WHI  Public Library.
