Foul by Paul Hoblin-ESSENTIAL

Hoblin, Paul, Foul. Darbycreek, 2011. Pgs. 114. Language: G, Violence: PG-13, Sexual Content: PG

Rhino is a great basketball player, but he can’t make a foul shot to save his life or anyone else’s, for that matter. When his real father escapes from jail and chopped off limbs start showing up addressed to Rhino, life or death foul shots become a reality. The mysterious note writer threatens to kill people if Rhino doesn’t learn to shoot foul shots. Can Rhino learn before someone gets seriously hurt or worse? Who is sending the threatening notes?

A great horror novel for hard-core fans and reluctant readers. The story is intense and well-developed. The characters are likable and entertaining. Readers who like suspense, horror, and sports will enjoy reading this book. MS, HS. ESSENTIAL. Reviewer: Kira M, Youth Services Librarian, WHI Public Library.
