Tweak Tweak by Eve Bunting - ESSENTIAL

Bunting, Eve. Tweak, Tweak, illustrated by Sergio Ruzzier. Clarion Books (Houghton Mifflin), 2011. $14.99. PICTURE BOOK. A mama elephant tells the baby elephant to “tweak” her tail twice if she has a question. The baby elephant asks about frogs and jumping, monkeys and climbing, crocodiles and swimming, butterflies and flying, and birds and singing. The mama elephant patiently explains that while the elephant can’t swim, she can spray herself with water from her trunk, etc. The mama finally explains that the baby will grow up to be just like her. The charming illustrations complement and enhance this simple but enchanting explanatory tale. For any parent who has answered a million questions from a curious child, this title will resonate with them. This book would also work well in a story-time for younger children. Pre-K – ESSENTIAL. Samantha, Public Librarian.
