The Many Faces of George Washington by Carla Killough McClafferty-ADVISABLE

The Many Faces of George Washington: Remaking a Presidential Icon (Exceptional Social Studies Titles for Intermediate Grades)
McClafferty, Carla Killough, The Many Faces of George Washington. Carolrhoda Books, 2011. INFORMATION

Since George Washington’s death, many depictions of his face have come out. In his lifetime, however, no seemed to ever capture his face. Due to this fact, there is no one given look to George Washington. In 2005, a team of historians, scientists, and historians attempted to capture his face. Through letters, documents, paintings, sculptures, and even his dentures. This book follows their journey.

A great layout for a non-fiction book. The mix of primary and secondary sources is well-balanced. The text was interesting and fun to read. Readers who like non-fiction, books about the American Revolution, and George Washington will enjoy reading this book. EL (4-6), MS. ADVISABLE. Reviewer: Kira M, Youth Services Librarian, WHI Public Library.
