Cinderella: Ninja Warrior by Maureen McGowan

McGowan, Maureen Cinderella: Ninja Warrior, 320 p. Silver Dolphin, 2011.  $8.95.  Content: G (mild ninja type action scenes).  Cinderella has been bespelled by her evil stepmother and forced to labor, unnoticed, day after endless day.  Not willing to remain a victim, she practices ninja skills in secret, hoping for a chance to break the spells upon her some day.  You choose how Cinderella’s adventure turns out out of eight possible routes through the book.  I have not been a fan of the choose-your-own adventure model in the past, but Cinderella and ninjas?  I couldn’t resist giving it a chance – and I wasn’t disappointed.  Oh, it may not have been quite as ninja-y as I might have liked, but it was fun and romantic and full of girl power when it comes right down to it.  And at less than $10, it is worth the price of admission. And according to the author’s website, there is also a book called “Sleeping Beauty: Vampire Slayer”. How intriguing! MS – ADVISABLE.  Cindy, Library Teacher
