Smile for the Camera by Kelle James

James, Kelle Smile for the Camera, pgs. 392 Simon and Schulster, 2010. $16.99. Language-R (25 swears, 8 "F");  Sexual Content-R; Violence-PG-13; Kelle really wants to be a model, so she goes to live in New York City all alone. Her only support is what she gets from friends along the way, because her dad is abusive and won't let any one support Kelle.. Can Kelle make it to the top and out of the ground? I liked this book, it was a memoir which was cool and it showed what life was like in 1980's New York . The author showed what models had to go through:   poverty, starvation, and being taken advantage of. The author do a really good job with the writing and should write another book on her journey to being a model. MS-HS- OPTIONAL. Student Reviewer: K.B.
