Stalling by Alan Katz

Smith.  Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, 2010.  $16.99 PICTURE BOOK.    Content, G.  Dan doesn’t want to go to bed, so he imagines all the things he could be doing instead.  After the long list (which rhymes), Dan is ready for bed, but finds that his parents have already fallen asleep.  The story is a good idea, but the list of things he imagines is not always organized in a clear way.  There is a lot going on in the pictures, and the illustration of Dan is not cute.  The mixed-media is sometimes fun to look at, but is sometimes just messy.  EL (K-3) – OPTIONAL.
