Nothing by Janne Teller

Teller, Janne Nothing, 227 pgs. Atheneum Books, 2010. Language - PG (1 swear, 0 "f"), Sexual Content - PG-13; Violence - PG; Pierre Anthon started it all. "Nothing matters," he said, but they know things matter. Now Agnes, Jon-Johan, Otto, Ursula-Marie, and the rest of their class are gathering things together that MATTER. They have to show Pierre Anthon that things do matter. But is Pierre right? A bunch of seventh graders are bullying each other into putting something they love on their pile of important things to show to Pierre. Once one person gives up something important they feel they have to get revenge and the next person has to give up something even harder to give up to "make up for" what the last one lost. I hated reading it. I couldn't get into it and I hate how rude everyone was! Revenge is stupid and some things matter. Those are the only things you could possibly take from this book, but it's a waste of time reading Nothing for that message. MS, HS - OPTIONAL. Reviewer: CCH.
