Darkness Becomes Her by Kelly Keaton

Keaton, Kelly Darkness Becomes Her, 284 p. Simon and Schuster, 2011.  $16.99.  Language: R (125 swears, plus 39 ‘F’); Violence: PG-13; Mature Content: G.  Ari Selkirk has always been curious about her mother who left her to the state when she was four and died soon thereafter.  Her journey takes her to the old New Orleans, which was isolated by a vicious series of hurricanes and then purchased by a very reclusive group of old money families.  While Ari may learn the truth of the bizarre inheritance her mother her left her, there are too many people who were prefer to see her dead, instead.  An eccentric group of young people, with supernatural oddities of their own may help or hinder her search and the smoldering hot Sebastian figures prominently in everything, including Ari’s heart. An extremely unpleasant confrontation with a goddess awaits - think Lightning Thief, on a huge helping of evil, for the older reader.  Ari is compelling and dangerous and very much willing to kick back and whatever wants to kick her.   If you can have this in your library you most definitely should.  HS – OPTIONAL (see language).
